Capillary Waves is a piece that expands on techniques developed for and earlier piece, Surface Tension. In this piece music boxes are placed onto a timpani head. The music box resonates inside the timpani and as the timpani’s pedal is moved the pitch of the resonating sound changes with the new pitch of the drum. Capillery waves involves 3 performers spaced around the audience each performing using several music box gestures, altered by resonating in timpani. The piece was performed at The International Conference For Auditory Design in Canberra in July 2016 by Ellen Falconer, Millie Watson and Charles Martin.
